Buttercream Frosting
This recipe makes an ideal buttercream for frosting cakes and decorating them with borders.
Ingredients
- 2 cup shortening
- 8 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp clear imitation vanilla extract
- 6 oz heavy cream
Instructions
- Cream the shortening until fluffy.
- Add confectioners’ sugar and continue creaming until well blended
- Add salt, vanilla, and whipping cream. Blend on low speed until moistened. Add additional cream if necessary (up to 2 oz.).
- Beat at high speed until frosting is fluffy.
