I am extremely excited about the latest addition to the ETSY store. Leah, my oldest, has used her artistic talents and creative design to create some buttons. I’ve gotten two of them on the ETSY store, and as I type this, she’s creating more.
Those of you who know me know that I’m a nut about staying out of debt. She’s getting ready to graduate and then will be headed to college in pursuit of a graphic design degree. The price of college is CRAZY!! Even a state school will have you coming out with $100K in debt when you’re done. That’s a big part of why I’m proud of her for putting these pins together. Leah has been working so hard to find opportunities to reduce the college costs as well as to bring in money. All with the goal of graduating from college with NO DEBT.
So these pins are NOT just pins. These are my daughter, using her God given talents, for a purpose that is so important. Imagine the advantage she’ll have, the head start in life that she’ll get, by coming out of college without the weight of thousands of dollars in debt. Can you tell I’m super proud of her? Buttons alone won’t do it, but it’s a small step that represents her desire to work in that direction.
Anyway, back to the pins. These are hand created, one-of-a-kind, fun expressions of her…and they can be fun expressions of you too. Check them out and purchase one that makes you smile.
She’s creating them in a few different sizes. Small (1″ diameter), Medium (1-1/2″ diameter), and Large (2-1/4″ diameter) sizes. There are a few other creative alternatives that we may see too as she continues to expand and try different things.
The first two buttons that you’ll find have pictures below. She hand drew a ladybug small pin and used a flower/rose paper with the hand printed quote, “Stop and Smell the Roses” on a large pin. Each pin is completely unique. The button making process is fairly simplistic with the equipment that she has (photos below), but it is the artistic design process that fascinates me the most. Check them out on the ETSY store, and if you’re so inclined, purchase one to help her out. Better yet, share with your friends and family!
