- 2.5 gal Water
- 4 Apples

- 3 cup Brown Sugar
- 1.5 tbsp Ground Black Pepper
- 7 Whole Bay Leaves
- 3 Large Orange Peels

- Core and finely chop the apples. Set aside.
- Using just 1 gallon of water, place it in a large cooking pot on the stove and heat on high.
- Add in all of the ingredients (including apples) and bring to a boil for about 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat, add the additional water and let cool. (Make sure the brine is completely cool before placing a turkey in it.)
- Place the turkey in a large food safe container and add cooled brine liquid. Add additional cool water to top it off. The bird should be completely submerged.
- Let brine for 24 hours, then remove the bird and rinse thoroughly. Discard of the remaining brine.
Notes
- Go crazy, use Apple Cider instead of Apples!!!
- Always a good idea to make this the night before brining the turkey, to give it plenty of time to cool down.
